Sai Kung Beach Cleanup (08-04-2018)

Hong Kong, well-known for its 733-kilometer-long coastline and natural beauty, also faces the challenges of marine pollution.

According to the latest report released by the Environmental Protection Department, 16,485 tonnes of marine refuse were collected in Hong Kong waters in 2016. Rubbish left on our stunning beaches will very likely be swamped into the ocean and thus threaten the marine life.

Passionate volunteers from SCI/NUCLEUS hiked from HKUST to Pak Shui Wun, Sai Kung, to clean up the beach on a sunny day. They sweated to get the beach dramatically cleaner than before!

Let’s protect our environment together!
